It is named after the first cartographer, Daniel Gottlob Reymann (1759 &#8211; 1837) , who was superintendent of the Map of the Prussian Arm Depot. The sheets were originally issued by Reymann, then taken over by Heinrich Berghaus in 1836. Beginning 1846, the maps were published by Carl Flemming. In 1874 the series was sold to the General Staff of the Prussian Army. The last update of the series \u2013 from 405 sheets in 1874 to a high of 526 sheets \u2013 was 1908. Each sheet covers approximately 68 x 46 km, and each sheet is 34 x 23 cm. The edges contain names of adjacent sheets, a scale, and sometimes the cartographer, engraver, publisher and year.
