DETAILS from the 1908 and 1920 versions of the maps. (Lands settled by Slavic tribes in the epoch of Charlemagne), from his “Atlas do Dziejów Polski,” with maps after Joachim Lelewel. 1908’s “Litwa” and “Zmudz,” become, in the 1920 version, “Litwini” and “Zmudzini,” while 1908’s Baltic “Sudawi” and “Prusacy” tribes are eliminated, replaced by “Prusowie.” Slavic tribes’ area increases south and west, at a time when Poland’s (and the Baltic states’) borders were being debated.
