POLOGNE

1764  Gilles Robert de Vaugondy: “POLOGNE,” 6.5 x 6 inches, in three versions from “…la Geographie,” which used maps from de Vaugondy’s octavo “Atlas Portatif.” The “modern color” on the third map was misapplied: “Palat de Bressicie” is colored as not being part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, when, in fact, it was a member from 1566 to 1795.Post 1764 T.C. Lotter (engraver, new publisher)Matthaus Seutter: “Poloniæ Regnum ut et Magni Ducat. Lithuaniæ Accuratiss..,” Augsburg, 7.5 x 10 inches, with Lotter replacing Seutter as publisher, under the center frameline, and the coat of arms of Stanislaw Poniatowski, Lithuania’s Grand Duke from 1763-95, replacing that of Augustus III.
